Whilst Costains have occupied the Village Hall they have utilised a temporary car parking area alongside the football pitch. Gilwern Trees

Following on from the work on the trees at Gilwern including felling a number, the Council met with Gwent Wildlife Trust and has decided to plant 22 new fruit trees along side the path at the eastern side of the playing fields, making a continuous line of trees from the Scout Hut to near the Bryn Glas entrance. Keep Wales Tidy Award

Llanelly Community Council received a Commendation in the One Voice Wales National Awards for 2020. This Award was in the Best Heritage Initiative category and was for the community-led WW1 Exhibition in November 2018 and the commemorative book "Llanelly Parish WW1 Remembered" in November 2019. The Project involved many institutions in the parish including the churches, Gilwern U3A, Gilwern WI and Gilwern School as well as local individuals. LCC provided also financial support. On behalf of LCC, Cllr Hannah Jarvis recently oversaw a collection of food and drink for the staff of Nevill Hall. The Council made a financial contribution and donations flooded in from generous local members of the community, who were keen to show their appreciation to our local NHS staff for their efforts and sacrifice during the COVID 19 epidemic. A packed car load was delivered on 23rd April and divided between different departments in the hospital. The next day Cllr Jarvis received a heartfelt email from the Operational Manager at Nevill Hall, expressing the gratitude of all the staff for the abundance of local support. Cllr Jarvis would like to thank everyone who donated and on behalf of the Council also pass on a thank you to our wonderful NHS staff and all key workers. Read More...
